Chacha

Chacha is a project that was born in 2017 and is still alive.

The artist uses the maid's uniform to claim "women in art." Dressed as a maid, she performs actions at art fairs and other emblematic spaces where women are not on equal footing with men.

The project has taken on different shapes over the years. Below, you can see a compilation:

Chacha, vídeo-performance, Cadaqués 2017

The idea for the project originated in Cadaqués, where several households employ domestic staff who are required to wear uniforms. This attire transports you back to the last century, a time when the divide between masters and servants was vast. The video was shot at the height of August, catching tourists and locals entirely by surprise.

Photographs from Chacha’s journey through Senegal and the Sahara

A photographic project across Senegal and the Sahara, in which the artist packs a maid’s uniform into her suitcase and photographs herself in various spaces where women are oppressed or relegated to a secondary role.

On social media, Chacha adopts the name Clotilde. Clotilde shares her views on world events across the political, social, and cultural realms, with users actively engaging through their comments. With a sharp, tongue-in-cheek humor, she rebels against the decay of society.
